I have an ugly brass chandelier. I’m going to spray paint it a flat black. I’ve sanded down with 180 grit paper. Does it need a primer before I spray paint it or will it be okay w/ the sanding and spray paint?

Also where can you purchase those little lamp shades to put on the bulbs?

Will it look ok or will it look obviously homemade like? I just don’t want it to look tacky.

Unfortunately, the chandelier install instruction has been dumped. The chandelier has two wires, neither of which are color coded (black/ white) and the ground copper wire. However the outlet contains four wires, black, white, red, and green. Should the red wire be attached to BLACK or white wire, since all should be “hot”? Also, when attaching to the fixture wiring since there is not color, is this just a hit or miss as to which goes to black or white? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
